’50 Shades Of Beige’ blogger competition

One of the things worth remembering when getting a pet, any pet, is that they are unpredictable. Our Bunk is a perfect example of this rule. He was a perfect puppy, did not scratch anything in the house, almost reached adulthood without chewing anything (ok, so he did eat a few pairs of my slippers and my niece’s sandals but that is all amazingly) and did not require house training. Then he grew up… For some reason this winter, a long winter, which I am not sure is even over when I looked out the window today… he started to dig. You might think that this is standard dog behaviour, and it is, but he is not digging in the garden or when we are out for a walk, he digs in our hallway! (Maybe there are some sausages buried… who knows). Consequently he has destroyed our hallway flooring! In his defence we agree it wasn’t state of the art flooring or some special indestructible flooring but it was however undamaged, clean and made the hallway look neat. Now it looks like this…

Our hallway now a days

Our hallway now a days

This is not indicative of our fashion sense, believe me, it is a necessity until we are able to replace the flooring with something less destructible or even indestructible. To give you an idea what our beloved Bunk did to the hallway let’s have a peek under the covers.

Digging damaged which needs to be covered up

Digging damaged which needs to be covered up

This has now thrown a new dimension into the problem as for every piece of damaged floor we cover with a piece of carpet or a strong door mat results in Bunk moving further down the hallway and digging in new spot. This can only mean that the sausages he is hunting for are moving, down the hallway…pesky sausages. Now it is getting serious as we are running out of hallway and Bunk has started to scan the kitchen floor for likely spots to dig…

Beginning of a new treasure hunt for the legendary sausages!

Nope no sausages here...

Nope no sausages here…

Grrr not here either...

Grrr not here either…

We would love to replace our flooring in need with some fantastic real wood floor.

It would allow us to have once again a nice welcoming hallway like we used to have… and we can finally put to rest the legend of the buried sausages when we remove the old flooring so Bunk can relax.
