What makes Sydney so dreamy?

What makes Sydney so dreamy

There are a lot of wonderful places around the globe and some of them stick in our memories more than others. Some we simply like some we don’t but there are also the ones we love; the ones that given the opportunity we would never leave; the ones where we could see ourselves living happily ever after…

One of those places for me is Sydney.

So why is Sydney so dreamy you might ask?

Well… there is the outstanding architecture, weather to die for, good food and even better drinks, 100s of great pubs with live music and so on and so on… but once you actually look behind the obvious, there are few hidden reasons which make Sydney one of the kind.

Jogging along Port Jackson Bay

Jogging along Port Jackson Bay

Wide sidewalks with stunning views of the harbour and the sea breeze wafting over you. This is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. You are still seeing and feeling the city, but at the same time you are in sync with nature. There is something magical about that. It is a deep soul stirring moment that is quite hard to describe. The best time for a jog is just before sunset, when the “white sails” of Opera House are changing its colours and the whole city is slowly lighting up ready for the night.

Coastal walk form Coogee to Bondi Beach

Coastal walk form Coogee to Bondi Beach

One of the most wonderful things about Sydney is its location. Living there you really have no need for holidays. All you have to do is to start walking… The Coastal walk form Coogee to Bondi Beach takes about 2 hours; during this time you can see some beautiful nature, feel the warm sand under your feet, admire the sharp cliffs but you can also see this magnificent city with a whole new perspective. Far away from the noise of the city centre, from our busy lives and daily troubles… this walk can give you power and inner peace and should you make it to Bondi Beach you can admire surfers battling the force of nature.

Sydney Mardi Gras

Sydney Mardi Gras

In general Mardi Gras refers to events during Carnival, but the Sydney Mardi Gras is a bit different. The Sydney Mardi Gras celebrates gay rights. The Sydney Mardi Gras Parade is one of a kind, not only is the organization perfect but the atmosphere is truly wonderful’ you can really feel the love. This festival really underlines the character of the people of this city, their open-mindedness, tolerance and love of good times!

I love Sydney

Who / What Am I? 11/07

Good Evening,

I was hoping to post earlier today but hey ho… you do not always get what you want, right?

Last weeks’ picture received some interesting answers but none of them where correct. I assumed that it would be hard to guess as the tail could really belong to many animals, but… this particular tail belongs to a White Wallaby, have a look…

Who What am I answer to 4 07Who What am I cut out answer to 4 07

Few facts about wallaby:

They are very similar to the Kangaroo, yet different enough to get their own name 🙂

They can jump a very long distance and their long tail helps them to keep their balance.

They are very social creatures (or at least most of the species). They live in groups and will fight to protect one another.

They eat grass, fruit and all other form of vegetation. In some parts of Australia they are considered a pest, due to the amount of crops they consume 😦

The average lifespan of a wallaby in the wild is 9 years.

And no, they are not miniature kangaroos as some people tend to call them. *

I think they are very cute looking little fellas, what do you think?

As for this week’s picture I have for you this shot…

Don’t be shy… have a guess and enjoy your weekend.

It looks like it will be a wet one here in UK… for a change 😉

Who / What Am I? 06/06

Evening everybody,

Just a brief post today as time is of the essence. The weather is lovely and we are doing a BBQ for 40! Actually we are getting ready for a big cook tonight… 18h long slow smoked pulled pork… oh, I am drooling here already…

Tonight we are having kebabs and some chicken drumsticks in a She Devils sauce… after this is done, the temperature on our Primo will go right down and a big pork shoulder will be invited to take honoured place on the smoking rack… and sometimes in the late morning it should be ready…

Wish us luck as this is our first proper BBQ session this season and Mark feels a bit rusty 😉

As for last weeks picture, yes! It was a koala.

Have a look at his cute little face…

Who What Am I answer to 30 05

Did you know that koala is not a bear?

Weird isn’t it?

So many people call them koala bears, me included.

This week picture came out awesome and I really like the final effect. I hope you will like it too.

So…

Have a lovely weekend everyone and please keep your fingers crossed that our BBQ is a success, otherwise there will be 40 very grumpy and hungry people in Beds tomorrow.

Take care

A.

Who / What Am I? 23/05

Good evening everyone,

I hope you are all well and ready for the weekend.

We will have a busy one if everything goes according to plan. Remember our leak? Yes, I know it was almost 6 months ago, but we have finally got the ceiling sorted out so now it is time to paint the room and bring it back to its former glory… so for me it will be a DIY weekend… unless I get distracted of course… I really miss the spare bedroom and would love to have the full use of it yet again, so wish me luck and will power to get this job done…

Last weeks’ picture of a “hairy monster” didn’t have even one correct answer.

Quite a few of you thought that it was a koala bear, which is close… at least whilst taking geographic location into consideration 😉

Last week picture was a funky kangaroo!

Who What Am I answer to 16 05Who What Am I cut out answer to 16 05

Did you know that:
Kangaroos can hop around quickly on two legs or walk around slowly on all four.
Kangaroos can’t walk backwards.
Kangaroos can jump very high, sometimes three times their own height.
Kangaroos can swim.
Baby kangaroos are known as ‘joeys’.
A group of kangaroos is called a ‘mob’, ‘troop’ or ‘court’?*

Interesting facts aren’t they? I like searching the net for funky info like this.

This week shot is a bit mouthy 🙂

Who / What Am I? 07/03

Good Morning,

It is Friday again, which means it is time for our next round of Who What Am I?

Last week a lot of you were quite surprised by the news about the camel beauty contest… hehe… I felt the same way when I found out this information. I decided to go digging a bit deeper into the fount of all knowledge (Google) in order to find some nice shots of a contestants… I didn’t have a lot of luck but I got a few… have a look…

Such lovely camel ladies 🙂

Now, it is time to focus on last week picture.

The more I look at it, the more I can see camel in it, but no… It was not a camel… I wish I was that tricky…

Last week picture was actually featured on my blog before in one of the weekly picture challenges… it was a shot of a flock of sheep taken in Australia, on Tasman Peninsula to be specific.

You can admire the full shot here…

Who what am I answer to 28 02

Yes, I know that sheep are normally a kind of white or white-ish… hmmm… maybe they are just dirty, or maybe they are slightly different breed of sheep… who knows… I have no idea… if you do let us all know so we can get some closure… all I know is that the picture wasn’t tempered with and no extra filters were used so they are that brown in reality.

For this week mystery picture I have chosen something with much more colour.

I hope you like it.
