Pet Box Subscription – Purrfectbox and Pawsomebox – Review & Giveaway

Pet Box Subscription – Purrfectbox and Pawsomebox – Review & Giveaway

Lately box subscriptions have become a very popular phenomena, you can get almost everything this way: food, make-up, cosmetics, even clothing… so why should pet goodies be left behind?… well… they aren’t, not anymore!

Purrfectbox and Pawsomebox offer a box subscription for your cat or dog respectively. Every month you get a lovely box delivered to your door packed with goodies suitable for your beloved pet. The boxes aren’t totally personalized but they do take into consideration the breed and size of your pet.

Cost?

Well that depends…

If you want to order just one box or don’t like making long term commitments, each box will cost you £19.90 but if you were to subscribe for a year, the price drops 20% making each box only £15.90 (this price includes delivery charges).

So what’s inside the box?

January Pawsomebox

This month our Pawsomebox contained:

  • A Basketball rawhide chew, which can double up briefly as a toy
  • A Nobbly Wobbly Ball
  • Some Mutt & Jeff Crunchy Chicken Bites from Hollings
  • A delightful Hot Dog Squeaky toy
  • A collar LED light from Pet Gear
  • Some bacon strips from Trixie

January Purrfectbox

And…This month our Purrfectbox contained:

  • Sanicat Clean wipes
  • Cat toys
  • Food selection from Scheshir
  • Scratching post from Wasabycat
  • Kitty treats from Zolux

Is it worth it?

Looking at the prices yes, both boxes offer good value for money and savings comparing to the cost of the separate purchase of each item included in the box.

But this isn’t just about prizes and savings. For me these boxes are treats for my little guys. We all treat our pets (at least I hope so) and sometimes it is nice for someone else to make a treat choice for you. It is not because I am lazy and don’t want to go to the pet store, it is simply due to the fact that I personally can learn something, I can discover new brands I’ve never heard of or some product I would otherwise never came across.

Looking at the content of two boxes I shared with you above, we will use most of the items included. The food and treats will get eaten for sure, as for the toys… we have banned all squeeze toys that squeak from the house, so there is no way my guys are getting their paws on this Hot Dog! But as we have a lot of friends with dogs, I am sure one of them will get on our “black list” soon enough and we will have the perfect gift for them next time we see each other – an annoying squeaky toy 😉 (ooh I feel like an evil villain plotting my sweet revenge).

My favourite item from our January cat box is: The bathing Mitt from Sonicat, simply because I’ve never heard of this product and I am really keen on trying it out. As for our doggie box it will be without doubt the Collar Flash Light. We have a few similar lights like this already but they are getting lost from time to time so having a spare one will defiantly come in very handy.

Do you like the idea of pet subscription boxes?

I hope you do because if so, you will have a chance to win 1 of 5 boxes for dogs or cats depending on your choice.

All you have to do is follow me, Purrfectbox and / or Pawsomebox on Twitter, RT the giveaway tweet and tweet us with a hashtag #purrBT if you want to win a a kitty box or #pawBT for a doggie one. If you own both, cats and dogs, and you can use both boxes, you can use both hashtags in your reply.

Board Games are getting a “Second Life” + Games Quest Giveaway

Board Games are getting a “Second Life” + Games Quest Giveaway

As we all know by now the gaming industry is growing bigger every day… more gaming consoles, more gaming tablets, phones handheld devices, more options to simply isolate ourselves from the outside world and just play…

One could easily start to think that this whole boom in computer gaming would “kill off” board games, but one would be wrong. Actually board games are having their own boom and were never as popular as they are right now.

According to Doctor Tomasz Sobierajski sociology Professor from Warsaw University “we miss the need to be with other people”. Computer gaming can be fun but most of the time we are isolated; it is just us stuck in the room staring at a screen whereas board games give us the opportunity to be interact with others and at the same time learn something new, have fun and relax.

Board games are extremely important part of growing up. They help with intellectual development, social rules as well as interpersonal relationships; they teach us how to win and more importantly… how to lose.

How to choose the perfect board game?

Well, I am not sure I have a perfect recipe for success when it comes to game choices but I have a few pointers which might help with this task.

Read information on the box

This would give you the general idea about the game and the ever so important age bracket the game is designed for.

Read the rules

Every game has its own rules. When picking something new we need to make sure that the rules are not too complicated and that the participants will be able to follow them.

Time frame

Some games can take a long time to finish. It is important to pick the right game that suits the time frame available to you to finish the game – too long and kids can get bored.

Number of players

Different games require different number of players. If there are only two of you most of the time then don’t get a party game…

Type of the game

Fantasy, simulation, adventures, logical… you know best what you like, you know best what your friends or kids are good at… take it into consideration when making your choice… If your players aren’t good readers don’t pick the game which requires a lot of reading in order to progress… games should be fun… this is their main role and everything else we learn during this time it is just a bonus!

Board Games are getting a “Second Life” + Games Quest Giveaway.

We have a lot of board games in the house. We might not play them as often as we would like but there is nothing better than a friendly scrabble session 🙂

Games Quest was started by people who love games and love having fun. They stock over 30,000 of the world’s favourite board games, toys and books. If you are looking for it, I am sure they have it.

Games Quest have kindly offered £40 of site credit to one of my readers, so you can pick something you and your kids or friends can bond over and enjoy during these long winter evenings.

If you have a board game on your wish list and fancy winning £40 to spend at Games Quest please just follow the link to my rafflecopter giveaway.

Enter to win a £40 voucher to spend at Games Quest

Good luck!

Do you like board games?

Do you think their future is bright?

Do you play with your kids, partner or friends?

RockFace taking care of your man – Review and Giveaway

If you like to look good and smell great with a minimum of effort and fuss leaving you more time to work hard and play hard, then Rockface is the range for you.

RockFace is a brand designed for a real man. All their products have the same citrusy woody fragrance so you can streamline your grooming and fragrance regime in one easy step.

RockFace taking care of your man

Currently there are 8 products in the range:

Recently Mark was kindly sent a range to try out. I must admit I was a little surprised by his reaction to this giant gift packet.

Normally he is a quite fussy “client” when it comes to skin care – he has a few products he likes and it is not easy to even get him to try something new. I think it is all about the fragrance – yet he liked RockFace and he was more than happy to give them a try, including the face and body scrub… which I tried to make him use for years with no positive outcome.

So what were Marks findings: “Good selection of useful products though I still haven’t figured out the need for an active body spray. The fragrance is indeed very attractive and I like the green colour of some products; not sure why but using them makes me happy”.

From my point of view I wanted to check if a “male” version of a face and body scrub is any different to the girly ones I know, so I tried it. To my giant surprise it was an amazing experience. This is one of the best scrubs I’ve used. It is quite gentle yet does its job perfectly well and it leaves your skin unbelievable smooth… no wonder Mark’s forehead doesn’t feel like a sheet of a sand pepper any more.

Mark likes it, I liked it, therefore with some confidence I can say I am sure you would like it too.

Now there is only one question left: when is the after shave or a perfume with the same scent coming out to complete the routine?

Now Rockface whose generosity has no bounds has very kindly offered 3 products to one of my lucky readers. The winner will be able to pick what they fancy to try out and if they are fast, it should arrive just before Christmas, so you will have one gift less to worry about.

To be in chance of winning the three RockFace products of your choice please follow me and RockFace on Twitter and RT the following tweet:

Good Luck!

T&C:
1. Open to UK readers only.
2. One obligatory entry per reader – follow me and RockFace on Twitter and RT the tweet as stated above. Any extra RT will be counted as an additional entry.
3. There will be 1 winner in total.
4. The winner will receive a bundle of 3 RockFace products of their choice. The prize will be provided by RockFace.
5. Winner will be picked at random and informed within 7 working days via Twitter.
6. Winner will have 7 working days to claim the prize, after this time, a new winner will be selected.

Zoflora, Pets and Christmas – Inforgraphic and Giveaway

Zoflora, Pets and Christmas

We are a nation of pet lovers, there is no doubt about it, but how good are we at making sure our beloved dog, cat or parrot lives in a clean and safe environment?

If you are a regular reader of Bark Time you know that I am huge Zoflora fan. I have been using it for years and I have no problems with recommending it to others. It ticks all the right boxes when it comes to cleaning and disinfecting certain areas in the house… one of those areas is the dog den aka the conservatory 😉 I like the fact that Zoflora kills 99.9% of both bacteria and viruses additionally it is very good with odour elimination, the result it helps me keep the house clean and with winter having arrived “wet dog” odour free.

Zoflora has made a cute infographic about pets and Christmas – have a look…

Pet Infographic from Zoflora Christmas 2014

91% of pet owners buy their pets Christmas gifts… hmmm… what is wrong with the remaining 9%? I guess these must be people who don’t celebrate Christmas… or perhaps they just don’t do any kind of gifting during this festive season…

73% of pet owners will add their pet’s name to any Christmas cards they send – we admit to being one of those owners… our cards always include all our animals names and if we are feeling artistic the paw prints as well.

Whilst on the topic of cards, Zoflora shared with me their selection of pet cards, which you can print out yourself.

Bird - Printable Christmas Cards from ZofloraCat - Printable Christmas Cards from ZofloraDog - Printable Christmas Cards from ZofloraGuinea Pig - Printable Christmas Cards from ZofloraHorse - Printable Christmas Cards from ZofloraRabbit - Printable Christmas Cards from Zoflora

If you would like any of these cards in a large file then please just drop me a line and I will email it to you.

And now for the giveaway… this festival season one of you will receive a Zoflora product bundle and a £25 Pets at Home voucher. So now there is no excuse not to buy your pet a Christmas gift, which is great news, isn’t it?

To be in with a chance of winning this lovely prize, please tell me: do you personally have any special pet related Christmas traditions you carry out?

Beanies The Flavour Co Coffee – Review and Giveaway

Beanies The Flavour Co Coffee – Review and Giveaway

I have been aware of Beanies Coffee for quite some time now. As a coffee lover I find the idea of flavoured coffee very attractive. Not that there is anything wrong with coffee’s natural flavour, but if you can take it to the next level and make it even better why not?

Beanies The Flavour Co offers a fantastic selection of:

…and last but not least

Their choice of flavours is amazing. From Orange Chocolate or Cinnamon Hazelnut through Ginger Bread or Very Vanilla to seasonal flavours like Christmas Pudding or Mulled Spice. And the choice of premium roast coffee is even more impressive: brandy, toffee, chocolate, macadamia nut or whisky, just to name a few… everyone should be able to pick something to their liking.

I was sent two 50g jars of instant coffee to try: Irish Cream and Amaretto Almond. Both of these instant coffees have a medium strength and they are sold in glass jars with a twist on lid. They are 100% sugar free and have less than 2 calories per serving. They are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.

Beanies The Flavour Co Coffee - Review and Giveaway

Both the coffees taste delicious but Amaretto Almond Flavour Instant Coffee totally won my heart over. When you open the jar you are met with a strong amaretto and almond aroma. At first I was a bit worried that the flavours would be extremely overpowering, but they are not… they are just spot on; making having a cup of coffee an even more really special moment.

From time to time I would browse over to the Beanies website and try to place an order. It never happened as I wasn’t able to make up my mind, total choice overload, in regards to the flavours I want to try. Now I know that making a choice is pointless. I have to try them all, otherwise how will I ever be able to pick my favourite?

Beanies The Flavour Co Coffee – Review and Giveaway - now at Tesco

Beanies Irish Cream and Amaretto Almond flavours instant coffees recently reached Tesco. In celebration Beanies The Flavour Co is offering three of you the chance to try these two flavours.

If you are a coffee lover and would like to indulge yourself a little please follow me and Beanies on Twitter and RT the tweet below.

Gousto – Simply Cook – The Recipe Box – Review and Giveaway

Gousto – Simply Cook – The Recipe Box

If you now wonder what Gousto is, let me explain…

Gousto enables everyone to enjoy cooking delicious meals with ease. They give you quality ingredients and easy to follow recipe cards that let you cook with confidence. Giving you back the time you lose planning your meals and traipsing about finding all the ingredients will allow you to reclaim the joy of cooking.

In simple words, Gousto will provide you with everything you need to create healthy, tasty and quick family meals – just add salt and pepper and some oil if required.

Gousto – Simply Cook – The Recipe Box -What's in my box

For the last few weeks I’ve been cooking with Gousto. I tried their 2 and 4 people meal box and I totally loved them. The service is outstanding and the content of each box truly fantastic. Just as stated on the above picture you get organic vegetables, Red Tractor meat and everything else you might need in order to create the meal you picked from the menu. From the selection of six meals, the most ingredients I had to add from my own cupboard was: salt, pepper, 1tbs of sugar or olive oil – everything else was provided; everything including fresh herbs, spices and of course all your main ingredients. The portion sizes are good, they aren’t too big so as to leave you bloated but will for sure fill you up (at least for some time).

Gousto - Simply Cook - The Recipe Box

Every week Gousto offers 10 new healthy recipes to pick from. You make your choice and they take care of the rest. The ingredients and easy to follow recipe card will arrive at your door on the earlier agreed day… all you have to do now is cook.

According to a YouGov survey after polling 10,000 respondents they found that that one in 10 of us, equating to five million adults, balk at even boiling an egg. 52 per cent of Brits say they can confidently cook 10 or more dishes from scratch. 52 per cent! So what is happening to rest of us – microwave and frozen meals all the time?

A lot of people do not cook because they don’t know how to, they have no time to plan the meals, go shopping and then actually cook them… Gousto is helping with all these problems. You pick what you fancy to eat and they will deliver all that is needed to cook it. No time wasted planning and shopping and most important no food wastage as you get precisely the amount needed to cook your meal. And when it comes to cooking – the recipes aren’t rocket science, you will receive a step by step recipe card, including detailed instructions and pictures to help you. The longest recipe I received took 35 minutes to prepare, so they aren’t really time consuming either, perfect for those nights when you arrive home from work weary yet hungry.

If you are wondering what type of meals you can cook with Gousto check out two of my creations:

Honey Saffron Chicken with Mint & Orange Couscous

Giveaway – #win 1 of 10 formoline L112

Formoline L112

It is becoming a little bit of a tradition – this will be the third time I have for you a giveaway for formoline L112 – Germany’s No.1 Slimming Supplement.

Same as the last two times, there will be 10 winners and each winner will receive one box of formoline L112.

If you are new to formoline L112, here is some basic information about it…

formoline L112 contains a naturally sourced fibre that binds to dietary fats passing through the digestive tract, significantly reducing the calories that your body absorbs. The bound fat and fibre are excreted in the normal way.

formoline L112 works specifically on fats (not sugar-based foods or carbohydrates) and so is most effective when calories are derived from a diet rich in processed foods that contain large amounts of saturated and trans fats.

Results show a possible weight loss of 7kg over a 4-week period.

formoline L112 can be used as part of a systematic weight loss programme or as an occasional use product when it isn’t possible to count calories, such as when on holiday or when dining with friends, and will help you to manage your overall intake of fat and fat-derived calories.

It also promotes a feeling of fullness, so users may naturally consume fewer calories. It does not act on the body’s metabolism and is very well tolerated. It is suitable for people with diabetes as there is no carbohydrate exchange value and it can help to lower cholesterol intake.

If you want to lose weight you have to remember that there are no magic pills. Slimming supplements like formoline L112 can help you to achieve your goal but they aren’t going to do the hard work for you.

As stated above formoline L112 works on fat, so if you are having a virtually fat free diet, they aren’t going to help.

I personally would recommend formoline L112 as a supplement when needed – I treat it a little bit like a guilt killer… I have a very rich and fatty meal or a pile of chocolate and then pop a few pills to counter act what I just ate… it seems to be working for me 😉

Anyway if you are in need of dropping a few pounds this might be just the thing for you.

In order to stand a chance of winning one of my 10 formoline L112 boxes please follow me on Twitter and RT:

Follow and RT @AgataPokutycka to win 1 of 10 boxes of formoline L112 thanks to http://www.healthstuff.co.uk/ Full T&C at: http://wp.me/p3l2gI-1k8

2. One obligatory entry per reader – follow me and RT as stated above. Extra RT will count as additional entries.

4. Each winner will receive 1 box of formoline L112 – 48tab. The prize will be provided by HealthStuff.
5. Winners will be picked at random and informed within 7 working days via Twitter.

My 15 minutes of fame!

My 15 minutes of fame with Seabrook Crisps

Two weeks ago I ventured all the way up to Bradford for my 15 minutes of fame.

After winning #crispsarnie competition hosted by Seabrook Crisps my recipe was put on a giant billboard in Bradford, the home of Seabrook.

I was invited to take part in a photo shot next to “my billboard”. It was an amazing experience! Seeing my name on this giant advert was really something special.

I was met by two lovely PR ladies and the photographer arrived shortly after. It was an extremely windy and at times wet day, so not ideal but hey ho…It was such a rush anyway.

My 15 minutes of fame with Seabrook Crisps.

I love photography, but usually only when I am behind the camera. It was quite weird modelling for someone who had a full brief of pictures that needed taking. It wasn’t easy and I felt like a fool at times but it was an incredible experience and I am so happy I decided to do it. The photographer was extremely nice and helpful and despite stress and poor weather I really had a lot of fun doing it. I did however gain an incredible respect for models; I have no idea how you can do it all day long girls.

My 15 minutes of fame with Seabrook Crisps .

“Everyone is supposed to have 15 minutes of fame in their life – I would have never thought that it would be a crisp sarnie that would put me and my creation on a billboard for all to see! It was great fun coming up with my recipe and I’m delighted it will be going in to a recipe book to inspire others.” – that was my quote which is now being published by different news outlets including my local Bedfordshire News 🙂

And yes, there is an e-book with recipes. If you want you can download it here.

My 15 minutes of fame with Seabrook Crisps ...

When I started blogging I had no idea that it would bring me such joy and so many amazing and unique experiences. It is truly the best hobby (just after competitions)…

Talking about competition, I have a small giveaway for you.

The lovely people at Seabrook Crisps have agreed to ship one box of their finest lattice crisps to one of you lucky people.

RAVPower Luster 6000mAh External Battery – Review and Giveaway

There are a lot of unexpected things that can happen to us during the day but loss of battery power in your mobile or tablet when we are out must me one close to the top of the annoying list. Most of us rely on our mobile devices and it is hard to get around sometimes when they are out of juice.

Luckily for me someone invented an external charger, which is small, portable and of course doesn’t require you to be plugged into a socket, PC, laptop or any other bulky device. And to top it up I was sent a RAVPower Luster 6000mAh External Battery to review and I totally love it!

You are getting all you need to in one small, neat packaging:

  • External battery
  • Cable
  • Carry pouch
  • Instruction manual

All you have to do is to connect your mobile device into the external battery and let the charging begin.

So what are my thoughts about RAVPower Luster 6000mAh external battery?

Great looking little thing – it is fairly small and very well made. It feels robust without being bulky.

It is not feather light, but with a weight of 120g I can’t really call it heavy, can I?

It has a large battery capacity, which will allow me to recharge my smartphone 3 times 🙂

It represents great value for money as its current on an offer price of only £11.99 with free delivery. You must admit that this is a great price.

The LED light is a nice addition, they allow you to check the battery power level but the funkiest extra feature is a flashlight. Press the power on button twice and the light comes on, press twice again and it is gone. It is surprising how much light this tiny flashlight actually gives – very impressive… and according to the manual you can get up to 250 hours of light from one charge.

Oh, and there is a pouch as well, a great addition that I can see being very useful. The pouch is the perfect size to hold both the battery and the cable. It is soft and it looks smart. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fabric. Why? The pouch is extremely slippery. Unless you have very firm vice like grip on it, it will not stay in your hand.

And one more thing, it comes in a choice of four colours – black, gold, blue and pink – so everyone can pick something they like.
