90:10 – Tapping into the inner child

90 10

Dan is right.

All the men I know have something in their lives that connects to the inner child. Man never completely grow up… they are committed to maturing and “evolving” but they never full grow up. 90% grown up…the other 10% not so much… sums it up just about right.

Anyhow, 90:10 is a men’s clothing line designed specifically to preserve the boyish part of our man. Currently they offer hoodies, T-shirts, sweatshirts and polo’s. Their design is simple yet elegant, childish but still suitable for a full grown man.

Mark was sent a navy blue 90:10 signature embroidered pullover hoodie to review. Features of the hoodie include:

  • Made from 100% pure organic cotton
  • Double kangaroo front pockets
  • A draw string neck line
  • Lightweight yet warm
  • Close-fitting
  • Small logo

90 10 – Tapping into the inner child

The first sensation which grabs you once you have opened your package is the amazing softness of the fabric. We are quite a sporty family (at least when it comes to clothing) so we have our fair share of tracksuits and hoodies but it is really quite a rare thing to have something so soft. It is not possible for me to describe it in words; you will just have to order one to feel it for yourself 😉

But back to the hoodie – The 90:10 signature embroidered pullover hoodie is suitable for being worn all year round, no matter what nature has installed for us. This isn’t one of those mega thick hoodies which make you look like a snow man; this one is manufactured from medium weight cotton, which means that can even be worn as an undergarment if needed.

90:10 is also fairly unique in this modern world of corporate takeover, they are small, young(ish) and above all genuinely enthusiastic about their products and their company and best of all they want to do better. They are still connected to each other in such a way that customer feedback can have a noticeable impact on the way they do business, I know from experience. If they think your idea is an improvement over what they currently do they are only too happy to step it up to a new level of customer service.
So in conclusion 90:10 is a modern company with the quality of foundations that sets it on course to go far in the market place. I appreciate the cutting edge customer service and the absolute top level in quality from their products.

I have their website as a favourite in every browser, need I say more?

Oh, and if you fancy trying the amazing softness of this hoodie for yourself, you can use the discount code CUPID to receive 25% off your order.

Wardrobe essentials – The Hoodie

There are certain types of clothes which no matter what our occupation, fashion style or lifestyle is, we all own at least one.

I think that the hoodie belongs in this category.

A hoodie (also called a hooded sweatshirt or hoody) is a sweatshirt with a hood. They often include a muff sewn onto the lower front, a hood, and (usually) a drawstring to adjust the hood opening.

Apparently this garment’s style and form can be traced back to Medieval Europe when the normal clothing for monks included a long, decorative hood called a cowl attached to a tunic or robes, and a chaperon or hooded cape was very commonly worn by any outdoors worker. The hooded sweatshirt was first produced in the United States starting in the 1930s. The modern clothing style was first produced by Champion in the 1930s and marketed to labourers working who endured freezing temperatures while working in upstate New York. The term hoodie entered popular usage in the 1990s.*

Hoodies are truly a brilliant invention. Depending on the fabric they are made from they can be used all year round. They keep us warm in the depths of winter, they will take the chill away during late night spring walks and they do look good. With 1000s of colours and designs to choose from everyone can find something they like.

We love hoodies!

For us they are an essential part of our wardrobe and I cannot imagine not having one.

Handy big pocket to keep your hands warm but also to store whatever needs storing whilst out and about – packet of tissue, car keys or even a wallet will fit there without any problems.

The hood to keep your neck warm and of course to keep your head warm when needed. It is the perfect protection against any wind; especially considering with the draw strings you can adjust the opening and make it fit you snugly, just as you want it.

Hoodie from Universal Textiles

“Our” new hoodie from Universal Textiles

I was sent my chosen hoodie from Universal Textiles. I picked an XL size so that I can share it with Mark… this was the original idea but it didn’t work out so well for me. Mark claimed our new hoodies as his with one simple statement – “Oh, come on, this is not really your size”… so here I am… my good intentions of sharing were turned against me and I lost a hoodie… but it is not a biggie… I can always try and “steal” it back from him when he is not looking, or wearing it 🙂 or I can just buy one for myself. Universal Textiles carry almost 2000 different hoodies so there is a lot to choose from.

For me the beauty of the hoodie is that depending on what you wear it with it changes its look and gains a totally new feel to it. Add tracksuit pants and trainers and you are in full sport mode, but add skinny jeans and some high heel boots you are ready to hit the town with your friends for a Saturday shopping spree.

Some people think that hoodies are made for nerds or chavs or they belong only in a young persons’ wardrobe, but they don’t. They come in many shapes and forms; including women’s cut which can be very flattering. Many older people wear them these days – why? Because they are brilliant and will keep you warm when needed. Also many big names like Tommy Hilfiger or Giorgio Armani have used them in the past as a primary component of their collections. Can fashion names like this be wrong?

Despite everything or whatever others might think, I love my hoodies!

Do you?

Do you find them, as us, an essential part of your wardrobe?

.

I received one hoodie from Universal Textiles for free for review purpose. All opinions are honest and my own.
